Do you use real fur for your costumes? No, all of our fursuits are made with faux fur. Real fur/pelts are a terrible material for this type of project, although some animal based product may be used in aspects of production or in other types of art commissions we accept. You may request the omission of animal based products in your custom commission.
-
How do I see through the eyes? Most masks will have tear duct vision where there is a dark mesh or otherwise sheer fabric that you can see through.
-
Can I wear my glasses in your masks? Our masks should fit over most glasses, however it is likely they may fog up. I hear there are sports glasses that have an anti-fog coating that may be a better choice when wearing a fursuit mask, although I am unaware if they come with eyeglass prescriptions.
-
Can I commission you if I am under 18?No, sorry. If your parent or legal guardian would like to commission me on your behalf I can discuss the options with them. I cannot enter into a contract with a minor, and it is likely you are still growing so there may be issues with fit, as well as safety concerns that fall to the commissioner for responsibility and handling purposes.
-
Can I reserve a spot on a future commission list(waiting list) since you aren't open right now?I cannot guarantee you a spot on my commission list while I am working on other projects, and I do not have a waiting list above and beyond my queue. I am able to provide you a price quote that will be good for 6 months, but is not a promise of a future spot in the queue.
-
What about rush orders? Can I get into your current list on a rush?Short answer: not likely. Long answer: It would be highly unusual for me to allow what is essentially a cut in line. I would have to be confident that I could still deliver projects according to my agreed upon production schedules with individual clients, and be highly enthusiastic about the potential rush project or the client. My rush fees would also be a factor on your end. Depending on your needs a rush may just not be possible. *If you want a rushed project and you applied for a commission spot while I am open for orders that is a bit different. I urge all potential clients to give as much notice as is possible for a rush, and depending upon the needs of the project and time constraints my rush fee will land between 50%-300% of the normal project cost.
-
I have a specific date I need to receive my commission by, can you meet my deadline? We can meet a specific deadline for a fee. If the deadline is after the initial ETA the fee will likely be 30% or less. If the deadline is before the initial ETA the project may need to be counted as a rush project subject to rush fees. Deadlines must be discussed with us when you place your order. We reserve the right to turn down work with unreasonable deadlines. Any Rush Fees will be included in the commission price listed in the Artist Commission Contract.
-
Do you ship outside of the U.S.?Absolutely. International orders are welcome, just be aware I cannot control the shipping costs between us and all orders must be fully insured. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the client.
-
Can I borrow, trade or rent a costume?Nope, it is all custom all the time. The only exceptions to custom work is when I make pre-made items which will land on our for sale page or potentially go up for auction.
-
Can I get a copy of someone's costume you or another maker made?I could make your own character in my artistic style, but I will under no circumstances knowingly reproduce another individuals O.C. Nor will I copy another makers work. It's okay if you want to use work as inspiration. Every artist is inspired by others, but let me help you design something that is meant just for you that we can both be proud of, and that will reflect who you are in an appropriate way.
-
Will you make me a specific character from “source material”?If you own it, or can provide written permission from the owner/license holder then I can potentially make you the character. I don't do outright cosplay work.
-
Will you make me a toony, mascot style or quad suit? No, I do realistic and semi realistic suits, the rest just isn't my style. There are loads of talented toony style makers out there who would serve that need so much better than I could currently, and I will never attempt a quad suit. I urge you to take a look at my Gallery to see what my style looks like, and how I have developed my skills since starting this, before submitting a commission request.
-
Does getting a quote guarantee me a commission slot or lock me in to ordering from you?No to both, a quote doesn't lock either of us into contract. You are only obligated to follow through when your application has been accepted and you have paid the initial invoice. Otherwise there is no commitment.
-
Do I have to send reference images or concept art?Yes and no. Yes, if you want something specific I need all of the details, if you don't show me then I won't know what you want. I need clear, accurate information when making your project. No, if you want to leave the design entirely up to us you will simply need to submit only the information and materials asked for (like measurements and your DTD) with no need for any reference images.
-
When do commissions open again?Timing varies based on current project load. Commission statuses will clearly be posted on the front page of the site. When we are open for order applications the commission status will say as much. Quote estimates are always open via email.
-
What is the difference between: a quote/ application/ commission slot/ rush slot?A quote is the limited time (good for 6 months) price estimate you can expect to pay for your project if time is no object and I set the schedule upon accepting your project for commission status. If you have provided enough information, and reference material your quoted price estimate will likely stay very close or exactly as what you received once you receive a commission slot. A quote is not a commitment; it is simply a request for information. An application is what I need you to fill out if you are seeking a commission slot of any kind. This provides me documentation of all your project needs in an official capacity allowing all of the pre-commission work on my end to begin including but not limited to consultation, research and design, as well as inputting the necessary information into the Artist Commission Contract. An application does not guarantee you a commission slot. This is an official request to be placed on the commission list which I will review and give you a yes or no answer, which if it is a yes, will be followed by an initial invoice. A commission slot is when I have agreed to do the work on your project and you have provided all necessary information and material as above, we have an estimated completion timeline as well as an agreement on legal aspects of the work including disclosures, promotional use, etc. This is a commitment by the artist, to do the work, and the client to pay in full according to a payment schedule. A rush slot is a commission slot with all of the necessary information as above, which has added rush fees and the expectation of a completed project made to the current standard of quality by the artist, paid in full by the client and shipped prior to its end use date as agreed upon in the contract. This is a commitment by the artist, to do the work, and the client to pay in full according to an accelerated payment schedule.
-
What types of payments do you accept?Credit/Debit payments via PayPal, and for the continental U.S. We also accept cashiers/bankers checks or money orders.
-
When do I pay?If you receive a slot you will be notified, the payment schedule will be included in our contract, and you will be sent an invoice. Please do not send any payment unless you received an invoice.
-
Do you have payment plans?Yes. 30% minimum down-payment or $100 whichever is greater. We split the remaining due payment according to a schedule we will discuss. The schedule may be extended/individualized to a reasonable degree according to your needs which would be discussed during the quote estimate and/or applications phase(s). Payment including shipping must be paid in full prior to shipment of any and all projects.
-
What are my chances of getting a commission slot?Currently it's pretty great since I'm just starting back up, but there are many factors that can effect your chances. The number of applicants are not something we can control and there is always the chance we could be inundated with order requests. We can only accept a certain amount of commissions at any given time, (generally between 3-12). There is also the large factor of enthusiasm for your project. If your commission is something we're really excited for it has a better chance of getting selected, also if you have applied for a spot before but we couldn't take you on at the time you are more likely to get a spot in the future. You will have to resubmit your application when commissions are available. Generally selection is based on the scope of the project, how many slots we have available, and stylistic interest in the project being presented. There is also a chance if we have a commission drop off early into the process you may be selected to fill that space.
-
I submitted my application/information, when will I know if I got a slot? When the application period is over we will review what was sent to us and make a selection from there. All applicants will receive a notification by email with a “Yes” or “No” answer.
-
I got a quote when will you start on my project?A quote is not a commitment to make your project. You must submit an order application when we are accepting them, and be sure to have it fully and accurately filled out otherwise your application may be denied.
-
Is the estimated timeline a guaranteed “finish-by” date if I get a slot? The estimated timeline is a good-faith estimation for either your project, or for your production batch if we accepted your commission as part of a larger order group with multiple commissioners. The timeline is subject to change due to illness, material shortages, personal emergencies, or otherwise unexpected delays. If for some reason there is a delay, you will be notified immediately. The timeline is a best guess and is not to be considered a promise, guarantee or deadline. If you have a deadline and require a rushed project please be clear about that upfront and we will address it with you when you place your order.
-
Can I perform in your costumes? Our work is not intended for heavy or athletic use, and is generally to be considered fragile, wearable, art. Performances and other heavy use could be risky to your well being and is to be done at your own risk. If you need your costume to have heavy duty construction please let us know when requesting a quote and submitting your application so we can quote you appropriately.
-
Do I have to fill out the application on the site to get a commission slot?I would prefer you did so I can ensure I have key information that I need. If you feel that it is too rigid and doesn't express your needs for your costume send me a request by email with all of your relevant information and a good reference image, and I will work with you that way. Please keep it in a single email thread with the name of your project in the subject line.
